Dear Delegates,
I take this opportunity to thank you for taking time off to join us during the Extraordinary Dialogue of ASARECA Patron Ministers. The theme of the Dialogue is “Build Back Better Beyond Covid-19 Pandemic: Extraordinary Dialogue of Patron Ministers on Facilitating Food and Nutrition Security in Eastern and Central Africa.”
Due to the lingering issues around the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, this Dialogue will be held virtually via the zoom platform on November 22, 2021 starting at 10:00am EAT.
The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the Dialogue host, in conjunction with the ASARECA Secretariat have prepared to ensure that your participation in the Dialogue will be well facilitated. We are keen on ensuring that the Summit provides a platform for expanding the frontiers of agriculture led growth and development in our region.
We acknowledge the European Union for providing financial support to ASARECA and the National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) through the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme ex-Pillar IV (CAADP-XP4) Programme, to build their capacities to face all types of challenges undermining food and nutrition security in Eastern and Central Africa (ECA), and particularly for bearing the cost of convening this important meeting. On the same breath, we thank the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) providing diligent management of the capacity development initiatives under the Programme.
I thank all the delegates who have confirmed participation during the Dialogue and trust that we shall all have an enriching experience together.
