Simple tools, huge impact: How the Virtual Irrigation Academy is changing livelihood in Malawi
A new book in which farmers express excitement over improvements in their livelihoods is out. The book, Celebrating EAAPP, is a collection of testimonies by farmers, on how they interacted with research and extension staff under the Eastern Agricultural Productivity Programme (EAAPP) and benefitted from a range of technologies, innovations and management practices. The farmers and representatives of farmer cooperatives from Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania tell with fondness of how EAAPP Regional Centres of excellence provided them information, training and initial technical capital inform of farm based machines, fodder, improved seed and exposure to practice profitable agriculture. The book details how the Regional Centers of Excellence for Dairy, Cassava, Rice and Wheat were organized to provide the region leadership for research on the four commodities.
